| dc.description | Human capital as the driving force behind Colombia's economic growth forms both the title and hypothesis for the present article, understanding that the accumulation of human capital results from a stock of education and the population's wellbeing and health. This investigation only deals with the relationship with the first element. Interest in the topic has been justified in the sense that knowledge acquires increasingly more importance regarding globalisation and economic growth. In effect, a theoretical consensus may be appreciated for explaining certain macroeconomic phenomena such as gross domestic product (GDP), meaning that material relative to human capital, reflected as being the workers' set of skills must be considered, as well as capital factors and work. The present article's objectives were thus to contribute towards economic theory regarding determining how these variables are related, giving the results of investigations presenting empirical evidence about Colombia and making recommendations contributing towards formulating policy in this field. | en |
| dc.description | El capital humano como impulsor del crecimiento económico en Colombia es al mismo tiempo el título y la hipótesis del presente artículo, en el entendido de que la acumulación de capital humano resulta del stock de educación, el bienestar y la salud de la población. Esta investigación sólo aborda la relación con el primer elemento. El interés por el tema se justifica en la medida en que el conocimiento adquiere cada vez más importancia en el proceso de globalización y en el crecimiento económico. En efecto, se aprecia un consenso teórico respecto a que para explicar ciertos fenómenos macroeconómicos como el Producto Interno Bruto, es necesario considerar, además de los factores capital y trabajo, el relativo al capital humano, el cual se refleja como el conjunto de competencias de los trabajadores. En este sentido, los objetivos del presente artículo son contribuir a la teoría económica en la determinación del relacionamiento de estas variables, presentar los resultados de las investigaciones sobre la evidencia empírica del caso colombiano y realizar recomendaciones que coadyuven a la formulación de políticas en este campo. | es |
